Christmas 2016

Its Christmas week and I can hardly believe 2016 is drawing to a close.  As I look back at this year I am amazed at all that has happened.

January – I moved into my little townhouse with much assistance from good friends.

March – saw a trip to Florida to visit the SIM retirement home at Sebring, see my brother, and bring back family treasures for my new home.

June – Corey and family arrived from Senegal for a short home assignment and spent the first several weeks with me.

July – brought a drive to Connecticut to connect with family and supporters and a trip to Thailand to help with their Spiritual Life Conference.

October – held a wonderful visit with Julie and Jeremy in Chicago and a drive back bringing more treasures for my home that had been stored for 15 years.

November – I was back in Connecticut for a celebration and time with good friends.

January through December – six editions of By Prayer were successfully completed even in the midst of all these travels.  Additional aspects of producing By Prayer have been handed over to me to consolidate the whole process as much as possible within the Praise and Celebration department.

And can you believe, when I moved to Charlotte I thought my traveling days were over!

Looking ahead to 2017 it appears there will be a continuation of much activity.

The opportunity to work with a group engaged in Spiritual Warfare has developed in the last few months.  Aware of the seriousness of this type of ministry I am asking for a team of prayer partners to join with me to be in frequent prayer for me, the team and those our team work with.  If you feel God’s prod to join with me in prayer, please reply and I will add your name to this special prayer team.  I will be sending this focused team updates on the work we are doing and specific prayer requests.  Regardless of whether you join in this special prayer ministry, would you please add prayers for spiritual discernment and wisdom for me and the team?

An opportunity to help with a Spiritual Life conference for the SIM team in Liberia in February has arisen.  Because of my experience with retreat planning, I have been asked to be the team leader for this group.  The dates will most likely be somewhere around February 10 to 23.  The cost will likely be between $2500 and $3000.  Please pray with me for the funding for this trip.

As 2016 winds down, so is my financial support.  The matching fund drive of last year has brought me through the year.  In the next few months that will run out.  I have marginal monthly support.  Pray with me for God to raise up financial provision for 2017.

Attached please find some gifts for you.  One is coloring pages of both Christmas and Easter since without the one the other is meaningless.  There is also a candle scene to print and put over a votive candle to celebrate the season.  One in color and one in black and white.

I plan a quiet at-home Christmas to spend time contemplating the incarnation.  I hope you also will carve out some time to spend in wonder and enjoyment of our brother and savior, Jesus.

Many blessings to you at this time of remembering our Savior’s arrival in this world to sacrifice himself on our behalf,

Janie
